Activists plan to demonstrate in Buenos Aires Dec. 19 and 20 to commemorate the December 2001 riots. Participants will gather for a vigil at Plaza de Mayo beginning 18:00 Dec. 19. Protesters also plan to march from the intersection of Avenida 9 de Julio and Avenida de Mayo toward Plaza de Mayo from 10:00 Dec. 20. Hundreds could participate in the demonstrations.

Heightened security, as well as localized business and transport disruptions, are likely. Clashes between police and protesters are possible, especially if demonstrators are overly disruptive or authorities attempt to enforce COVID-19-related restrictions.
