Mali: Nighttime curfew imposed on commercial cargo trucks due to insecurity as of Aug. 10

Effective Aug. 10, authorities imposed a 22:00-06:00 curfew on wide-load commercial transportation vehicles in the communes of Koulikoro and Meguetan, Koulikoro Region. The measures are in place until further notice. This includes sand and gravel trucks.

The curfew may cause supply chain disruptions considering its proximity to Bamako. Drivers may engage in protests against the imposed curfew with little warning. The curfew restriction was enacted to mitigate insecurity in the region. Additional security checkpoints are likely in the area during the designated curfew times. Parked vehicles may cause nighttime traffic congestion near populated areas limiting the flow of traffic.
